Yavatmal: A tiger from Tipeshwar Sanctuary in Yavatmal has traveled about 600–700 km and now lives in Yedshi Ramling Sanctuary, Dharashiv. Place is safe and has enough food, so the tiger has settled there.

This tiger was called “Taru” when it was in Tipeshwar. In May 2023, it started moving and was seen in Adilabad (Telangana), Nanded, and Ahmadpur (Latur). The forest team tried to catch it and put a radio collar on it. For 75 days, they searched using drones, but tiger always escaped.

Now, since tiger is living in Yedshi, it has been given a new name “Ramling”. Camera trap photos proved it is same tiger from Tipeshwar.

Experts say that tigers moving from one forest to another is good for their healthy future.

One young tiger from Tipeshwar once walked more than 3,500 km across many places like Telangana, Painganga, Gyanganga, Ajintha Verul, and finally stayed in Gyanganga. People called him “Walker”.

During COVID time, another tiger traveled over 2,000 km and later settled in Gautala Sanctuary.

Forest officers are now making a tiger and leopard record system. They will use a WhatsApp group to share daily photos and locations. Every week, this information will be collected and stored. This will help in knowing where the tigers go and in keeping a proper record.
