Nagpur: Nagpur, Maharashtra’s winter capital, will soon have a new and modern Vidhan Bhavan. New building will be crescent-shaped, inspired by the design of the new Parliament House in Delhi. It will combine modern style with Maharashtra’s heritage.
New complex will come up inside current legislative area. To make space, the temporary offices of some political parties like BJP and Congress will be moved elsewhere. Old Assembly and Council buildings will stay as they are because they are part of state heritage.
Three levels with better facilities
The new Vidhan Bhavan will have three main floors:
The ground floor will have a Central Hall for big meetings,
The first floor will have the Assembly Hall,
The top floor will have the Legislative Council Hall.
The number of seats will also be increased to fit more members in the future. The Legislative Council offices will move to a new Secretariat building near the government printing press.
