Mumbai: Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana gives 1,500 every month to women in Maharashtra. To get the money, women must now finish an online E-KYC process on a special portal.
Many women said they are facing problems while getting the OTP (one-time password) during this process. State Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare wrote on social media that the government knows about this problem and is working to fix it quickly. She said the E-KYC will soon become easier and smoother for all women.
Under the new rules, not only the woman but also her husband or father has to complete E-KYC. Govt will check family income to see if a woman is eligible.
If married, her husband’s income will be checked.
If not married, her father’s income will be checked.
Families earning more than ₹2.5 lakh a year will not get the benefit. Earlier only the woman’s income was checked, but now the whole family’s income will be verified.
Govt says these changes will make sure the scheme helps the right people and that the technical problems will be solved soon.
