Mumbai: Making a biopic is never easy. The new films life of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath.
Movie, directed by Ravindra Gautam, is based on Shantanu Gupta’s book The Monk Who Became Chief Minister. It follows Ajey (Anant Joshi), who starts by driving a bus in his village. After local fights, his father sends him for higher studies. College politics leave him unhappy, and he later joins Mahant Avaidyanath’s (Paresh Rawal) ashram. From there, the story covers his rise to become CM.
First half of movie is smooth and watchable. But the second half feels slow and more like a record of events instead of a story. The editing could have been sharper to keep viewers engaged.
Anant Joshi does well in lead role, and Paresh Rawal brings strength to his part. The rest of the cast also supports the story effectively. The camera work is nice, especially in showing the hills and the ashram.
Film has strong performances and a good beginning, but the second half makes it less engaging. It ends up being more factual than emotional.
