Mumbai: Marathwada has suffered heavy losses due to continuous rainfall and floods. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis visited Delhi today to meet central leaders and demand financial aid for flood-hit areas. On Thursday, he also gave a memorandum to Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Mumbai regarding immediate relief funds.
Fadnavis said that even though the state budget is in deficit, he has instructed officials to make provisions for relief. He also assured that compensation will be given after damage reports are completed.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar recently made headlines for his comment in Dharashiv where he said, “We can act about many things, but not about money.” After criticism, Pawar clarified that he was only speaking in a simple way so rural people could understand.
“At home we also say such things. My meaning was that budget matters cannot be avoided. But opposition leaders are quoting only one line and creating controversy,” Pawar explained.
