Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has called a big meeting on 4 October to talk about OBC reservation. Leaders from different parts of the state have been invited. Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar said the meeting will mainly focus on the government’s order related to Hyderabad Gazette.

State recently allowed Maratha community members to get Kunbi caste certificates if their old records show Kunbi entries from the Hyderabad Gazette. OBC groups say this decision could cut into their share of reservation. They are strongly opposing the move.

OBC groups will hold a large protest march on 10 October against this order. Vijay Wadettiwar said the protest will not be cancelled.

New Panel for OBC Issues

Government has also set up an OBC panel led by BJP minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule to look into OBC demands and welfare.

OBC anger and Maratha reservation issue are expected to make Maharashtra politics more heated in the coming days.
