Mumbai: Maharashtra govt has decided to help people and farmers affected by floods and heavy rains. Districts can now use up to 5% of their annual plan funds (DPDC) for emergency relief without waiting for state approval.
Earlier, these funds were only for drought relief. Now, they can also be used for floods, heavy rain, and hailstorms. If needed, districts can use up to 10% of funds in serious cases.
Funds can cover urgent needs like water tankers, fodder, temporary shelters, and diesel for relief work. District officials can approve spending immediately, with later approval from District Planning Committee.
This decision will help Marathwada, Parbhani, Amravati, Akola, Dharashiv, and Solapur recover faster from recent floods.
