Nagpur: Police have closed case of last year’s alleged stone attack on former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, saying the complaint was false. A report called ‘B Summary’ was submitted to the Katol court last week.
Complaint was filed by Deshmukh’s assistant, Ujjwal Bhoyar. He had claimed that on Nov 18, while returning from a campaign in Narkhed, some unknown people threw stones at Deshmukh’s car near Katol. It was said that one stone hit him on head and glass pieces were found inside the car.
After checking, Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) in Nagpur said there was no proof of the attack. The glass in the car could not have broken from one hit, head injury did not match glass cuts, and no glass was found in wound. CCTV footage and nearby searches also showed no attackers or witnesses.
“Since there was no evidence, complaint is false,” said a senior police officer. Police have asked the court to allow action against the person who filed complaint.
At that time, Anil Deshmukh was campaigning for his son Salil Deshmukh, who was contesting the Katol Assembly election.
