Mumbai: Mumbai Police went on high alert after a bomb threat was sent on the WhatsApp number of traffic police. Message came just one day before Anant Chaturdashi.
Message said that 34 vehicles with bombs were placed in Mumbai. It also said a group called Lashkar-e-Jihadi was behind it and that 14 Pakistani terrorists had already entered city. The sender also claimed that 400 kg of RDX would be used and that blasts could kill “up to one crore people.”
Police said they are taking the threat seriously. Special cyber and anti-terror teams are checking who sent the message. Extra police have been posted at busy places, religious processions, and crowded areas.
Senior police officer said, “We are trying to find source of the message. People should stay calm and inform us if they see anything suspicious.”
This comes just days after Mumbai Police got other threat calls and emails, raising safety concerns during festival season.
