Nagpur: Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Harshvardhan Vasantrao Sapkal welcomed the Central Government’s decision to conduct a caste-based census, terming it a triumph of the relentless efforts by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. He urged the Central Government to ensure the census is conducted promptly and effectively.Sapkal emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) must approach this decision with seriousness.
“This should not remain a mere announcement but must be implemented in practice. The decision will prove beneficial for the country’s welfare,” he stated. He further clarified that the Congress party firmly believes a caste-based census is a significant step toward achieving social justice.Commenting on Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement, “Chun chun ke badla lenge” (We will take revenge selectively) against Pakistan, Sapkal affirmed that the Congress party stands with the Central Government on every appropriate decision related to national security.
Earlier,Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had also welcomed the caste-based census decision, describing it as a crucial step toward securing social justice. Sapkal appealed to the Central Government to conduct the census urgently and transparently to ensure justice for all sections of society.
