Nagpur — Political uncertainty has deepened in Maharashtra after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hinted that the upcoming local body elections could face a possible delay.

Opposition parties, including Congress, MVA, and MNS, have alleged widespread errors in the voter list, claiming that several names are missing while others are duplicated. Despite these complaints, the State Election Commission went ahead and announced the election schedule, sparking tension across political circles.

Reacting to the issue, Fadnavis said, “The election has been announced, and we are ready. But if necessary, changes can be made.” His statement has led to speculation that the polls might be postponed to address voter list discrepancies.

For months, opposition leaders have demanded that the election process be paused until the voter lists are corrected. After recent discussions with the Election Commission, they claimed that their appeals had not been properly addressed.

Fadnavis, however, maintained confidence in the ruling alliance, saying, “All three parties in our alliance will make their own decisions. Even if we don’t contest together everywhere, our unity will remain. The people of Maharashtra will once again support the Mahayuti.”
