The festival of Dhanteras, marking the first day of Diwali, is being celebrated across India today with joy and devotion. Falling on the Trayodashi of Kartik Krishna Paksha, this day is considered highly auspicious for buying gold, silver, utensils, and worshipping Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Kuber, and Lord Dhanvantari.

1. Wake up early, take a holy bath, and wear clean clothes.

2. Draw a rangoli and make Lakshmi’s footprints near your main entrance.

3. Place idols or pictures of Lakshmi, Kuber, and Dhanvantari on a red cloth.

4. Offer flowers, sweets, rice, and haldi, and light 13 diyas in the evening.

Buying new items today is said to invite prosperity and happiness:

• Gold or silver coins – symbol of wealth

• Brass, copper, or steel utensils – for purity

• New broom – removes negativity

• Haldi root or coriander seeds – for Lakshmi’s grace

• Shami plant or Gomti Chakra – brings luck

• Electronics or vehicles – considered auspicious purchases

• Sharp objects (knives, scissors)

✨ Evening Diya Ritual

Light 13 diyas at your doorstep in the evening, placing a cowrie shell (kaudi) in each one. It is believed to bring wealth and blessings from Lord Kuber.
