Nagpur: Diwali means lights, happiness, and lots of tasty food. But for people with diabetes, this festival can be a little difficult. During Diwali, we eat more sweets and fried snacks than usual. This can raise blood sugar levels if we are not careful.

Doctors say you can still enjoy the festival just follow a few simple rules.

Take your medicines on time. Don’t skip them even if you’re busy celebrating.

Eat in small portions. If you want sweets, try sugar-free ones or have just a small bite.

Stay active. Go for a walk or do light exercise after meals.

Don’t overeat dry fruits. A few almonds or walnuts are fine, but too many can add fat.

Avoid alcohol and fried food. These can increase calories and blood pressure.

With little care and control, you can celebrate Diwali happily and stay healthy too.
