Mumbai: Navi Mumbai Police have made the first arrest in a kidnapping case linked to fake IAS officer Pooja Khedkar. Police caught Prafulla Salunkhe, the driver of Pooja’s father Dilip Khedkar, from Dhule. Both Dilip and his driver were missing for six days.

Police said Salunkhe has been sent to custody till Sept 24. The search is still on for Dilip Khedkar, his wife Manorama, and one more person. The SUV used in the crime has not yet been found.

Incident took place on Saturday evening on the Mulund–Airoli road. A cement truck hit a Land Cruiser car (MH 12 RP 5000). After the accident, two men from the car forced the truck helper Prahlad Kumar inside their vehicle and ran away. The truck driver informed his boss Vilas Dhengre, who filed a complaint at Rabale Police Station.

Police later found the Land Cruiser parked outside a bungalow in Baner, Pune, owned by Dilip Khedkar. But when police reached, Dilip and his wife Manorama had already escaped.

Driver is now being questioned, while police teams continue searching for others.
