Nagpur: Former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, visited Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur today. He paid respect to Lord Buddha and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by offering flowers. Deekshabhoomi is the place where Dr. Ambedkar adopted Buddhism with thousands of followers in 1956. It is a symbol of equality, compassion, and social justice.
Floral Tribute and Meditation
Kovind offered flowers at the stupa and statues of Ambedkar and Buddha. He observed a moment of silence and joined in meditation. He also spoke with visitors and praised Ambedkar’s ideas of respect, human rights, and a society without discrimination.
Message of Social Equality
Kovind said Ambedkar’s work is not just about ceremonies but about helping the weak and fighting unfair treatment. He added that places like Deekshabhoomi inspire people to follow social equality and constitutional values.
Local leaders and officials were present, and special arrangements were made for safety. Every year, thousands of people visit Deekshabhoomi, especially on Buddhist festivals and Ambedkar’s conversion day.
