Ganesh procession accident in Hassan: 8 dead, PM Modi, Karnataka CM express grief

Karnataka:  A big accident happened in Hassan district, Karnataka. A truck lost control and hit a Ganesh idol immersion procession. Sadly, 8 people died and 25 others got injured.

Accident took place on National Highway-373 near Mosalehosalli village. Police said truck driver tried to avoid a bike coming from opposite side, but truck went off track and crashed into crowd. Many people were stuck under vehicle, and area turned into chaos.

Police officer Mohammed Sujeetha MS said 5 people died on spot. Three more, who were badly injured, died later in hospital. The truck driver also got injured and has been arrested.

Out of the 25 injured, 18 are in Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) and others are in private hospitals. Some of them are in serious condition.

PM Narendra Modi also expressed grief. He announced ₹2 lakh for each family who lost a member and ₹50,000 for those who were injured.

CM Siddaramaiah shared his sadness and announced ₹5 lakh help for each victim’s family. He also said the govt will pay all hospital bills of injured.
