Pune/Mumbai: Most districts in Maharashtra are facing heavy rain since last night. From early morning, showers are continuing in Mumbai, Pune, and many other parts of state.
In Pune’s rural areas, very heavy rain was reported. Light rain is still going on in some places.
In Theur village of Pune district, around 8 to 8:30 pm, rainwater entered nearly 50 houses. Because of this, the NDRF team was called. The rescue team safely moved people out from the low-lying areas.
Mumbai and many parts of Maharashtra saw very heavy rain on Sunday evening. The rain continued all night with thunder, lightning, and strong winds. Weather department has said the next few hours are very important and people should not step out unless needed.
Train and Road Problems
Central Railway trains are running 10–15 minutes late. Harbour line trains are 5–10 minutes late. Western Railway trains are normal, but office workers faced trouble because of water on roads.
Weather office warned of very heavy rain, strong winds of 40–50 km/h, and lightning. An orange alert is given for Raigad, Ratnagiri, Pune, and Satara. The rest of Maharashtra is on yellow alert.
High Alert on Coast
Experts say this is part of the retreating monsoon. The rain may slowly reduce by Oct 15. A high alert has been issued along the Arabian Sea coast.
Other Districts Affected
In Beed, heavy rain forced officials to open 11 gates of Majalgaon Dam. Villages near Sindphana River have been told to stay alert. In Nashik, Manmad weekly market was disturbed and vegetables were damaged.
In Hingoli, a young man bravely saved a farmer from being washed away in floodwaters.
