Nagpur: These days, almost everyone spends too much time on phones. Kids are the most affected. They watch videos, play games and stay stuck to screens for many hours. If you want to reduce your child’s screen time, these easy steps can help:

1. Set limits gently
Tell your child that they can use screens only for a short time every day. Make sure they know that phones, TV and tablets all count. Do not take the phone away suddenly. Talk to them kindly about why too much screen time is not good.

2. Be their role model
Children learn from parents. If you use your phone all the time, they will also want to do the same. Try to keep your phone away when you are with your kids. Play with them or chat with them instead.

3. Don’t use the phone as a reward
Avoid saying “finish your food or homework and I will give you the phone.” This makes kids think that the phone is very special, and they want it even more.

4. Spend time with them
Sometimes parents are busy and give the phone to kids so they stay quiet. This slowly becomes a habit. Try to talk to your children, read stories, or let them help you in small tasks. Keep them involved.

5. Give them other fun choices
Encourage your child to try outdoor games, drawing, dancing, swimming, cycling, or any hobby they like. When kids are busy with fun activities, they naturally use screens less.
