Mumbai: DCM Eknath Shinde said govt is standing with Maratha community and wants to give them justice. He was speaking after Manoj Jarange Patil ended his five-day hunger strike.

Shinde said a committee was formed under Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, and after long talks, important decisions were taken. The demands about Satara Gazette and Hyderabad Gazette have been accepted. A three-member team will now work to make caste certificates easier to get.

He explained that Satara Gazette will take some more time, but steps for the Hyderabad Gazette have already started. He also reminded that when he was CM, govt gave ₹10 lakh and jobs to families of those who died during the Maratha protests.

According to Shinde, Justice Shinde Committee found 58 lakh old records, and 30 lakh caste certificates are already given. The govt wants a simple process so Maratha youth preparing for exams like MPSC, UPSC, and those going abroad for studies can get benefit.

Shinde said new govt order is legal and strong, so no one should object. He added that opposition only tries to trouble govt, but they could not succeed.

He also promised that OBC community will not lose their rights. “We have made sure OBCs will not be harmed,” Shinde said.
