Satara: A serious accident happened at Karad on Pune–Bengaluru Highway. A bus from Pimpalgaon Baswant Junior College (Niphad, Nashik) was taking students on a picnic trip. While travelling near Wathar village, the bus suddenly went off the road and fell about 20 feet into a small valley. Around 40–45 students and teachers were inside.
In this accident, five students were badly hurt, and many others got small injuries.
People living nearby heard the loud noise and ran to help. They quickly started pulling students out of the bus with great effort. All the injured students were immediately taken to Krishna Hospital in Karad.
Police reached spot soon after and started rescue work. The exact cause of the accident is still not clear, but it is suspected that the driver may have lost control of the bus. The incident has created fear and tension among parents, as the children were simply out to enjoy a picnic.
