Kojagiri Purnima, also called Sharad Purnima, is a special full moon night. People believe that on this night Goddess Lakshmi comes to bless homes with wealth and happiness.
This year the festival starts on 6 October 2025 at 12:23 pm and ends on 7 October 2025 at 9:16 am. The best time to pray at night is from 11:45 pm to 12:34 am.

Simple Steps for Kojagiri Puja
- 1. Take a clean bath and wear fresh clothes.
- 2. Place a photo or idol of Goddess Lakshmi in your home temple.
- 3. Offer flowers, incense, betel leaves, nuts, and sweets.
- 4. Cook milk and rice pudding (kheer). Keep it under the open sky at night so it gets the moon’s light. Offer it first to Goddess Lakshmi, then share it next morning as prasad.
- 5. Light 11 ghee lamps and chant:
“Om Shreem Hreem Shreem Mahalakshmyai Namah”. - 6. Read Lakshmi prayers like Shri Suktam or Lakshmi Ashtakam.
Old Story of Kojagiri Fast
A rich man had two daughters. The elder one kept the fast properly. The younger one left it incomplete. Because of this, her babies died soon after birth. A priest told her to complete the fast properly. Later her dead child came back to life when touched by her elder sister’s dress. This showed the power of Kojagiri Purnima’s full fast.
