Solapur: Soil digging case in Kurdu village, Madha, Solapur has become big news in Maharashtra. CM Devendra Fadnavis asked for a full report. After orders from District Collector Kumar Ashirwad, Tehsildar Sanjay Bhosale sent a three page report saying soil digging was illegal.
On 31st Aug, revenue officers went to survey land number 575/1 in Kurdu. They saw that soil was being dug without permission. Villagers tried to stop officials. In check, officers found 120 brass of murum had already been taken. Villagers said it was for road work, but records showed official order for that work had already ended in April 2025.
Earlier, on 13th Aug, two JCB machines and a tipper truck were caught at the spot. A fine was taken, and police cases were filed against owners. Panchayat has also been fined ₹5.47 lakh under law.
Today, villagers have called for a “Kurdu Bandh” to protest against action and against comments comparing their village to Beed district.
Issue also became political. It is said that IPS officer Anjana Krishna, who led action, was threatened on a video call by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. NCP MP Dhairyashil Mohite Patil also said situation in Kurdu was worse than Beed, which made villagers angry.
Guardian Minister Jaykumar Gore supported officers. He said digging was clearly illegal and that no wrong mining of sand or soil will be allowed. He told villagers that problems must be solved with talks, not by closing village.
