Nagpur: Voting for 262 Municipal Council chairperson posts and 6,042 member seats ended across Maharashtra today. Polling was held from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Long queues were seen even after closing time, and several centres reported tension and clashes. Results will be announced on December 21.

Key Incidents

Muktainagar: Independent candidate Jyoti Bhalerao reached late and couldn’t cast her own vote.

Mahad : Shiv Sena and NCP supporters clashed; vehicles were damaged and a revolver was allegedly shown.

Manmad : BJP and Shinde Sena workers fought over alleged fake voting.

Yeola & Satana: Minor fights broke out between rival groups; police increased security.

Jalgaon: Poll officer accused of telling voters to press the BJP’s Lotus button; chaos followed.

Muktainagar : Minister Raksha Khadse argued with police over stopping a BJP candidate.

Hingoli : MLA Santosh Bangar booked for allegedly violating voting rules inside a booth.

Voting Turnout Highlights (3:30 pm)

  • Ratnagiri district: Up to 69% in some areas
  • Satara district average: 49%
  • Sambhajinagar: 55%
  • Sangli district: 57%
  • Gadchiroli district: 54%
