Mumbai: Bombay High Court’s Nagpur bench has decided that results of all Nagar Parishad and Nagar Panchayat elections in Maharashtra will now be declared on one single day December 21.

Voting took place today in many towns, and results were supposed to come out tomorrow.
But elections in 24 places were delayed earlier because of reservation issues.
So court said that results should be announced only after every city finishes voting.

Because of this, ruling Mahayuti leaders, who were ready to celebrate tomorrow, were surprised and disappointed.

CM Devendra Fadnavis shows disappointment

CM Devendra Fadnavis said he has seen local body elections for almost 25–30 years, but this is the first time such confusion has happened.

He said candidates work very hard for days, and delaying results like this breaks their morale.
Fadnavis also said that even if the court and the election commission are independent, the election process must be improved so that such mistakes do not happen again.

Raj Thackeray reacts strongly

MNS chief Raj Thackeray said the situation shows that “things are happening in a careless and arbitrary way” in the country. He also expressed unhappiness about the delay.

Chandrashekhar Bawankule blames the Election Commission

BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule said the State Election Commission created a big mess by not listening to warnings.

He said it is unfair that political parties campaign for weeks and then the commission suddenly changes the schedule.

Bawankule added that commission must fix this issue and make sure future elections happen smoothly.
