Mumbai: Maharashtra govt has given big relief to electric vehicle (EV) owners. From now, EVs will not have to pay toll on three major highways. This step will help people save money and also promote clean transport.
Rule is made under Motor Vehicle Act, 1958.
Four-wheel electric vehicles (M2, M3, M6 category)
State Transport (ST) electric buses
Private company electric buses
Transport Minister Pratap Sarnayak said this rule started on 22 Aug 2025. Now EV owners can travel without paying any toll charges.
Govt wants more people to buy and use electric vehicles. This will also support auto industry and reduce pollution. Citizens are happy with the move because it will save them thousands of rupees every year.
Benefits of EVs
Electric vehicles save fuel costs, create no smoke, and make less noise. They are cheaper to run than petrol or diesel vehicles. This toll free decision is good for both people and environment.
