New Delhi: Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan has been in Adiala Jail for many days. During this time, the government was not allowing anyone to meet him. Because of this, many people were worried about his health and safety.
This week, his sister Uzma Khattak was finally given permission to see him. She met Imran Khan for about 20 minutes inside the jail. After coming out, she told that Imran is okay, but he is being kept alone in a separate cell, which is causing him mental stress.
Last time his family got official information about his health was on 4 November, when his other sister Aleema Khan met him. Since then, many rumours were spreading because no updates were shared by the government.
On Tuesday, when Uzma went to meet him, thousands of PTI supporters gathered outside the jail. They shouted slogans like “Release Imran” and demanded proof that he was safe. At some places, police and supporters even had minor clashes.
Last week, Imran Khan’s sisters had filed a petition in Islamabad High Court, saying that jail was not following court orders. After increasing public pressure, government finally allowed Uzma to meet him.
The situation has created tension in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and Section 144 has been enforced for the next two weeks to stop gatherings.
