Nagpur: Winter has set in early across Vidarbha, with temperatures dropping to levels usually seen in late December. Nagpur recorded a minimum temperature of 10.5°C, the lowest of this season so far. Yavatmal was the coldest in the region at 9.6°C.
Several districts woke up to fog, cold winds and a sharp dip in night temperatures. Many cities reported minimum temperatures 3 to 6 degrees below normal.

• Gondia – 10°C
• Bhandara – 10°C
• Washim – 10.4°C
• Yavatmal – 9.6°C
• Nagpur – 10.5°C
• Wardha – 11.4°C
• Gadchiroli – 12°C
• Amravati – 10.5°C
• Akola – 11.9°C
• Buldhana – 13°C
• Chandrapur – 13°C
With the sudden chill, markets in Nagpur, Chandrapur, Wardha, Bhandara and Akola have seen a rise in demand for winter clothing. Shops selling sweaters, jackets, caps and mufflers are witnessing more customers than usual. According to shopkeepers, winter shopping has started much earlier this year.
The weather department has warned that temperatures may drop further in the coming days as cold northern winds continue to sweep the region.
