Nagpur: Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule made a sudden visit to Assistant Registrar’s Office in Khamla, Nagpur on Monday.
He entered without warning and started checking the office records. During inspection, cash was found inside a drawer of officer Atul Kaple.
Minister immediately called police and ordered a full inquiry into money and the deals linked to it.
Bawankule said that property registration is now online, yet some officials still demand cash. He warned that such behaviour will not be allowed.
He asked people to report any bribe demand in government offices directly to him on WhatsApp at 904944040.
This is not the first time he has done such checks. He had earlier visited offices in Saoner and Amravati to act against corruption.
He said firmly, “No one will escape action if found guilty.”
