Nagpur: After being without a permanent leader for almost two years, Nagpur University now has a new vice-chancellor. Dr. Manali Makrand Kshirsagar has been chosen for the post, and she becomes the first woman to lead the university in its long history.
For last two years, university was running under temporary leadership. Because of this, many decisions were delayed and daily work also slowed down. Students, teachers and several student groups kept asking the authorities to appoint a full-time vice-chancellor as soon as possible.
Governor has now approved Dr. Kshirsagar’s name and officially appointed her as the 25th Vice-Chancellor of the university. She is currently associated with Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering as a Technical Director and Advisor.
Her appointment has created a positive atmosphere on campus. Many hope that she will speed up pending work, support new ideas and research, improve administration, and bring back smooth functioning.
Students and staff believe that under her leadership, Nagpur University will move forward faster and offer better academic quality in coming years.
