India Morning News
Mumbai: NCP leader Nawab Malik suffered a major setback after a special PMLA court in Mumbai confirmed charges against him in a money-laundering case linked to fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s network.
According to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Dawood’s sister Haseena Parkar, her aide Salim Patel, 1993 blast accused Sardar Khan, and Nawab Malik were involved in illegally taking over a three-acre plot owned by Munira Plumber in the Goawala Compound area.
Malik, who was arrested in 2022, is currently out on bail.
The case was heard at 3 PM by Judge S. R. Navander. Malik’s lawyer requested more time, stating that some documents from the ED were still awaited. However, the court rejected the request, noting that the High Court has instructed lower courts to frame charges without delay.
The court then officially framed charges, moving the case into the trial stage.
Next Hearing
The matter will now be heard on December 19.
