Mumbai: During Ganesh festival, Maratha leader Manoj Jarange Patil started a hunger strike at Azad Maidan, Mumbai. Thousands of Marathas came there to support him. After five days, Maha govt agreed to six out of eight demands on Maratha reservation and gave an official order. Jarange Patil then ended his protest and said he was happy.

But, this decision has upset the OBC community. Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said he may go to court against it.

Now, OBC groups have also become aggressive. They are planning a big protest march in Mumbai on Oct 8 or 9, after Dussehra. Today, OBC leaders will hold an online meeting to decide final date. Bhujbal may also join this meeting.

OBC groups fear that giving Kunbi caste certificates to Marathas will reduce their own share of reservation.

At same time, govt’s order has already been challenged in Bombay High Court. Two petitions have been filed one by Shiv Akhil Bharatiya Veer Shaiv Yuvak Sanghatana and another by lawyer Vineet Dhotre.

Petitions say order is illegal and should be cancelled. They also requested the court to stop giving Kunbi certificates until case is heard. The court is likely to take it up soon.
