Satara — A shocking incident from Phaltan in Satara district has sparked outrage across Maharashtra after the suicide of a woman doctor allegedly due to police harassment. Before taking her life, the doctor — a native of Beed district — wrote a brief message on her palm, holding Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Gopal Badne responsible for her death.
Following the revelation of the message, the police department immediately suspended PSI Gopal Badne and initiated a formal inquiry. Officials confirmed that preliminary findings suggest a case of prolonged harassment.
According to the note, the woman alleged that Badne assaulted her four times, while another accused, Prashant Bankar, subjected her to mental and physical harassment for several months.
Police sources revealed that Badne had a prior record of misconduct, with multiple complaints accusing him of misbehaving with women and abusing his position.
