Gujarat : PM Narendra Modi on Saturday stressed that India’s biggest challenge today is not a foreign nation but its own reliance on others. Speaking at a public event, he said, “If India has any real enemy, it is our dependence on other countries. This is what we need to fight against and defeat.”

Modi underlined that Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) is the only path to protect the country’s interests and strengthen its global position.

In another setback for bilateral ties, US President Donald Trump recently imposed fresh tariffs on Indian goods. He linked the decision to India’s continued imports of Russian oil, saying such trade was indirectly supporting Moscow’s war in Ukraine.

Moves have added to trade friction between the two countries, even as India pushes harder for self-reliance to reduce vulnerability to external pressures.
