Pune: City bus service (PMPML) has made a strict new rule. Bus drivers cannot use mobile phones or headphones while driving. If they do, they will be suspended immediately.
This decision was taken in a PMPML meeting. Officials said they got many complaints that drivers were talking on phone or using earphones while driving. One accident also happened because of this.
New Rule Details:
Drivers must give their phones to the conductor before starting duty.
They will get phone back only after finishing duty.
If a driver breaks this rule, they will be suspended at once.
Rule also applies to buses run by private contractors.
Depot managers must make sure rule is followed strictly.
PMPML has requested all drivers to follow this rule carefully. The main aim is passenger safety.
