Pune: In a significant step towards agricultural empowerment, the inaugural ‘International Agri Hackathon 2025′ was launched with grandeur at the College of Agriculture, Shivajinagar, Pune. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party President Ajit Pawar visited startup stalls, exploring innovative solutions tailored for the agricultural sector. Scheduled from June 1 to 3, 2025, the hackathon spans eight domains and sees enthusiastic participation from students, startups, and traditional farmers across India.

Organized in collaboration with the Agriculture Department, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, the College of Agriculture, and international institutions, the hackathon aims to address farming challenges through cutting-edge technology. “Advanced technology is the need of the hour for sustainable agriculture. This initiative will promote innovations in water conservation, modern irrigation techniques, scientific use of pesticides and bio-fertilizers, and improvements in the agricultural supply chain,” said Ajit Pawar, expressing confidence in the event’s impact.

The hackathon is designed to boost farmers’ productivity and encourage innovation in agriculture. Highlighting the Maharashtra government’s ‘AgriStack’ scheme, Pawar announced that every farmer would receive a ‘Unique Farmer ID’ to digitally record details such as land holdings, crops, subsidies, insurance, and loans. “This ID will serve as a distinct identity for farmers, streamlining access to resources,” he added.

The event is poised to be a game-changer, fostering sustainable farming practices and enhancing farmers’ income through technological advancements.
