New Delhi — Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has alleged that the Election Commission of India (ECI) is helping the BJP by allowing fake voter entries to remain in electoral rolls. Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, Gandhi said the Commission’s recent claim about “homeless voters” was false and misleading.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar had stated earlier that people without houses are also registered voters and their address is recorded as “House No. 0.” He explained that such voters usually live under bridges or on roadsides.
Refuting this, Gandhi said, “This is not true. My team checked several names from Haryana’s voter list — all of them had proper homes.” He claimed that these so-called “House No. 0” voters disappear after the election, suggesting a planned manipulation of the voter list.
“These are not homeless people; this is part of a fake voter plan,” Gandhi asserted. He also criticized the Commission for not using its software to identify and remove fake or duplicate voters.
In a striking example, Gandhi showed a photograph of a Brazilian model, claiming her name appeared multiple times in Haryana’s voter list. “Why is a Brazilian girl in Haryana’s voter list?” he asked, calling the situation “proof of a deeper electoral scam.”
