Pune: Dr. Jayant Vishnu Narlikar, eminent astrophysicist and science communicator, passed away in Pune today, leaving a profound void in the realms of Indian science and literature.
Dr. Narlikar, celebrated for co-developing the ‘Conformal Gravity Theory’ with Sir Fred Hoyle, made groundbreaking contributions to astrophysics over a career spanning more than four decades. His tireless efforts to demystify astronomy for the common man, leveraging various media platforms, earned him widespread admiration.
His debut book, Yakshanchi Denagi, received a Maharashtra government award, and his extensive body of work, including numerous books and articles, inspired generations of science enthusiasts. Dr. Narlikar’s passing marks an irreplaceable loss to both the scientific and literary communities. His legacy as a guiding star in science will continue to inspire future generations.
