Sindhudurg: Before upcoming local body elections, political activity is rising fast in Maharashtra. Now, a surprising development has come from the Konkan region in Kankavli Nagar Panchayat, both Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) may come together.
Talks are going on to form a new local group called “Shahar Vikas Aghadi” (City Development Front). If this happens, it will be the first time after the Shiv Sena split that both groups unite for an election.
Recently, a secret meeting took place in Kankavli. Local leaders including Rajan Teli, Vaibhav Naik, Sushant Naik, Sandesh Parker, and Satish Sawant attended it. They reportedly discussed fighting upcoming municipal election together.
Sources say that leaders from both sides are ready to forget local differences and focus on development. Sandesh Parker may become the front’s candidate for Nagaradhyaksha (chief of the Nagar Panchayat). A final decision is expected soon.
