New Delhi: Supreme Court has given a big order that will change the education system. From now on, anyone who wants to become a teacher must pass Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). This will stop schools from hiring unqualified teachers and will help children get better education.

Old teachers also included
Teachers who were hired before Right to Education Act, 2009 and still have more than 5 years of job left must also pass the TET exam within 2 years. If they don’t pass, they will have to leave the job. They will only get retirement money, nothing else.

Teachers who will retire in next 5 years don’t have to give TET. But if they want promotion, they must pass the exam.

Why TET is needed

To make sure teachers are qualified and trained

To follow rules of National Teacher Education Council (NCTE)

To protect children’s right to basic education

To improve level of education in the country
