Agra: A sad accident happened on Thursday in Kheragarh, Agra district, UP. During Durga idol immersion in Utangan river, 13 young men went missing in deep water. Festive mood turned into shock and sadness across village.
People from Kusiyapur village had gathered near the river for the immersion after Navratri. Around 40–50 people, including women and children, were present. Some young men stepped into the deep area of the river and were swept away.
Villagers quickly saved one youth, Vishnu, who is badly hurt. Two more men were later brought out but were declared dead at hospital. Police, SDRF teams and divers are searching for others.
Officials on the Spot
District officers and senior police reached the site and took control of the situation. Injured people were shifted to SN Medical College. Locals complained about slow police response, but officials assured full help.
