Mumbai:
Former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has launched a strong attack on the Maharashtra government over the farm loan waiver issue, accusing it of making false promises instead of providing real help to struggling farmers.

Heavy rains and massive crop losses have left thousands of farmers in distress. Earlier, Bachchu Kadu and other farmer leaders had staged protests demanding complete loan cancellation. In response, the state government announced that farm loans would be waived by June 2026.

Thackeray dismissed this as a political gimmick, saying, “Farmers need support today, not next year. If you plan to waive loans later, should farmers continue paying now? How will they get new loans for the next crop season?”

He accused the government of playing with farmers’ lives for electoral gains and demanded that the loan waiver be implemented immediately.

With increasing political tension and growing farmer unrest, all eyes are now on how the state government will respond to Thackeray’s sharp criticism.
