Bihar: Four teenagers died and one was seriously hurt on Friday morning after a Vande Bharat train hit them near Purnea Junction.
Police said the fast train was coming from Jogbani and going to Patliputra station when it struck five people near Madarghat, between Kasba and Purnea Junction, around 5 a.m.
Three of them died on the spot. One more died later at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Purnea. Another injured person is being treated there.
Railway officials said the group was returning from a Durga Puja fair at Kasba. All of them worked at a makhana unit in Purnea and belonged to Murliganj in Madhepura district.
Families have been informed and the bodies sent for post-mortem at GMCH Purnea.
