India Morning News
Nagpur: Before Navratri, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has said that Garba should be only for Hindus. People from other religions, including Muslims, should not join. VHP will explain this at a press meeting in Nagpur.
VHP has set some rules for Garba: attendees should show Aadhaar card, get a tilak (mark) on the forehead, and take part in worship of goddess. Volunteers from VHP and Bajrang Dal will make sure these rules are followed. VHP said Garba is for praying to the goddess, not just for dancing, and only believers should join.
Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule Response
Nagpur’s Guardian Minister and Maharashtra’s Revenue Minister, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, said that Garba organizers can make their own rules. He added that committees also need to ensure police permission for their programs, and decisions on entry rules depend on this approval.
