Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has given a strong warning after Friday’s violence in Bareilly. Speaking at an event on Saturday he said the state will not allow riots or road blockages. “We will not impose curfew but will teach a strict lesson so that no one dares to create trouble again,” he said.
No Curfew, But Strict Action
Yogi Adityanath said that before 2017 curfews were common during protests and riots, but now the government controls the situation without curfew. “Those who only understand language of force are being dealt with in the same way and punished,” he added.
He said that during festivals some people try to create chaos. “Now troublemakers will think many times before acting. Sometimes bad habits don’t go away easily, so we have to correct them strictly,” he said.

What Happened in Bareilly
After Friday prayers, a crowd gathered on the call of Maulana Tauqeer Raza, president of Ittehad-e-Millat Council, and tried to take out an illegal march. Stones were thrown at the police. The police responded with tear gas and lathi-charge.
Police have arrested Maulana Tauqeer Raza and several others. The Chief Minister’s statement shows that the govt will take tough action against people involved in riots or illegal protests.
