Mumbai : PM Narendra Modi has opened first phase of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) on Wednesday. Built at a cost of ₹19,650 crore, this is one of India’s biggest new airports.
Airport will help reduce pressure on Mumbai’s main airport and make travel easier for people living in Mumbai and nearby cities.

Regular flights are expected to start in December 2025, and ticket booking may open by the end of October. Airlines like IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Air India Express will start flying from here first.
Smart and digital facilities
This will be India’s first digital airport, where passengers can book parking online, drop bags themselves, and get baggage updates on their phones.
Airport has a 3.7 km runway and a modern terminal, built with advanced technology to give passengers a comfortable and quick travel experience.
