Parli: A shocking incident has shaken Beed district after a four-year-old girl was sexually assaulted near Parli Railway Station. The cruel act sparked anger across region, leading to a massive silent protest in Parli city today.
Silent March in Parli
Following a public appeal, shops in Parli remained shut this morning. Later, thousands of citizens, including women, men, and representatives of social organizations, joined a silent march. The rally began at Rani Laxmibai Tower Chowk and ended near Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue at railway station.
Protesters raised strong demands that accused should be given death penalty without delay and the case should be heard in a fast-track court so justice is delivered quickly. They also demanded better safety measures at Parli Railway Station, including more CCTV cameras and additional security guards to protect women and children.
Citizens also alleged that a railway staff member failed to act against the accused on the day of the crime. They demanded an official inquiry and strict action against the concerned employee.
On Sunday afternoon, victim’s parents, who had come to Parli from Pandharpur in search of work, were waiting at railway station. The girl’s mother, feeling unwell, had fallen asleep. Taking advantage of situation, accused lured child to a corner and assaulted her. Little girl later returned crying to her mother, and after questioning, truth came out. The incident sparked immediate outrage in community.
Accused Arrested
Police acted swiftly and arrested the accused from Barkat Nagar. Citizens have warned that protests will continue until strict punishment is ensured. People across Beed district are demanding the harshest possible action so such crimes do not repeat in the future.
